Vocabulary on the Seasons & Moon Phases
| Term | Definition |

| Axis | an imaginary line from the North Pole to the South Pole through the center of Earth. |
| Orbit | a curved path around an object. |
| Pattern | something that repeats in a regular way. |
| Season | a time of year with a distinct pattern of temperature and sunlight. |
| Full Moon | a moon phase in which the moon's visible surface is FULLY LIT. |
| Moon Phase | the changing apparent shape of the moon. |
| New Moon | a moon phase in which the moon's visible surface is NOT lit |
| Quarter Moon | a moon phase in which half of the moon's visible surface is lit. |
| Waxing Moon | when the moon is getting BRIGHTER each night. |
| Waning Moon | when the moon is getting DARKER each night. |
| Gibbous Moon | when the moon looks bigger than a half moon, but isn't quite full. |
| Crescent Moon | when only a small curved slice of the moon is lit up. |

| System | a collection of things that work together. |
| Rotation | the spinning of a planet, moon, or other object on its axis. |
| Revolution | one orbit of an object, such as a planet or satellite, in space around another object in space. |
