Science Lab Format

QuestionAnswer
Title of Lab: should be a description of what your lab is about
Problem: ask a question about something you observe –how, what, when, who, which, why or where?
Research: using a book, the WWW, teacher, class notes, other adults, locate background info that will help you to answer the problems to this lab. List the sources used.
Hypothesis: an educated guess using “If _____ (I do this), then ______ (this) will happen because …_____________.
Control: list all the variables that will be kept the SAME
Independent Variable: What I can change
Dependent Variable: what will be measured, something that relies on something else
Procedure: ☺ Step by step directions on how to do the lab/experiment including ALL variables
DATA: Info that will be collected during the experiment
Conclusion: Written as a paragraph/summary of your findings; using:
Claim: Hypothesis was or was not supported and what happened in your experiment
Evidence: specific data from experiment that supports what happened in your experiment
Interpretation: example of how this topic relates to something in your life OR identify a new problem you could investigate
