Science Lab Format

QuestionAnswer
Title of Lab Should be a description of what your lab is about
Problem ask a question about something you observe –how, what, when, who, which, why or where
Research using a book, the WWW, teacher, class notes, other adults, locate background info that will help you to answer the problems to this lab. List the sources used.
Hypothesis An educated guess using “If _____ (I do this), then ______ (this) will happen because …_____________.
Control List all the variables that will be kept the SAME
Independent Variable What I can change
Dependent Variable What will be measured, something that relies on something else
Procedure ☺ Step by step directions on how to do the lab/experiment including ALL variables
DATA Info that will be collected during the experiment
Conclusion Written as a paragraph/summary of your findings; using:
Claim Hypothesis was or was not supported and what happened in your experiment
Evidence Specific data from experiment that supports what happened in your experiment
Interpretation example of how this topic relates to something in your life OR identify a new problem you could investigate
