| Hormone | 1. A chemical that affects growth and development. 2. The chemical product of an endocrine gland. |
| Photoperiodism | A plant’s response to seasonal changes in the length of day and night. |
| Critical night length | The number of hours of darkness that determines whether or not a plant will flower. |
| Dormancy | A period of time when an organism’s growth or activity stops. |
| List three stimuli that produce plant responses | 1. Touch 2. Light. 3. Gravity. |
| Give an example of both positive and negative tropism. | If a plant grows toward the stimulus, it is said to show a positive tropism. If a plant grows away from a stimulus, it shows a negative tropism. |
