Forces and Motion

TermDefinition
Balanced Forces equal forces that do not result in motion
Unbalanced Forces unequal forces that result in motion
Independent variable variable that is changed or manipulated in an investigation
Dependent Variable variable that is being measured or observed in an investigation
Constant Variable variables that are kept the same to ensure a fair test and accurate results
Gravitational Force a pulling force that attracts objects towards the center of the earth or towards each other
Frictional Force a force that slows or stops motion and requires objects to be in contact.
Magnetic Force A pulling or pushing force that results in motion based on attraction or repulsion with magnets.
When a south pole of a magnet is close to a south pole of a magnet repelling

Force A push or a pull that can be balanced or unbalanced forces.
