Forces and Motion
| Term | Definition |

| Balanced Forces | equal forces that do not result in motion |
| Unbalanced Forces | unequal forces that result in motion |
| Independent variable | variable that is changed or manipulated in an investigation |
| Dependent Variable | variable that is being measured or observed in an investigation |
| Constant Variable | variables that are kept the same to ensure a fair test and accurate results |
| Gravitational Force | a pulling force that attracts objects towards the center of the earth or towards each other |
| Frictional Force | a force that slows or stops motion and requires objects to be in contact. |
| Magnetic Force | A pulling or pushing force that results in motion based on attraction or repulsion with magnets. |
| When a south pole of a magnet is close to a south pole of a magnet | repelling |

| Force | A push or a pull that can be balanced or unbalanced forces. |
