TermDefinition
Stomata Any of the minute pores in the epidermis of the left or right stem of a plant, forming a slit of variable width witch allows movement of gases in and out of the intercellular spaces.
Transpiration The process by which water is lost through a plant’s leaves.
Germination. The sprouting of the embryo out of a seed; occurs when the embryo resumes its growth following a dormancy.
respiration The action of breathing.
Flower the reproductive structure of an angiosperm.
Pollination The transfer of pollen from male reproductive structures to female reproductive structures in plants.
List the 3 functions of roots. 1. Anchoring the plant.2. Absorption of the water and nutrients.3. Storage of food and water.
list the 2 functions of stems Support and Transport.
Describe the basic function of leaves. to act as the primary source of photosynthesis.
What is the difference between photosynthesis and cellular respiration. 1. Photosynthesis stores energy but respiration releases it.2. Photosynthesis happens usually on plants but respiration usually occurs in all living cells.
list the three ways a seed can be dispersed. wind dispersal animal dispersal water dispersal.l.
