Orbicularis oris kissing muscle (closes mouth)
Buccinator used to suck in cheeks
Zygomaticus used in smiling (draws corner of mouth upward)
Temporalis closes jaw
Masseter prime mover to raise mandible (closes jaw)
Sternocleidomastoid prayer muscle (rotates head, flexes head)
Trapezius shrugging the shoulders (extends head, neck)
External intercostals elevate rib cage, aids in inspiration
Internal intercostals depresses rib cage, aids in forced expiration
Rectus abdominis flexes and rotates vertebral column
External oblique aids muscles of back in trunk rotation and lateral
Transverse abdominis compresses abdomen
Serratus anterior abducts and raises arm
Pectoralis major prime mover of arm flexion
Latissimus dorsi prime mover of arm extension
Infraspinatus stabilizes shoulder/lateral rotation of humerus
Deltoid prime mover of arm abduction
Triceps brachii forearm/elbow extensor
Biceps brachii flexes forearm and supinates the hand
Brachialis flexes forearm/no role in supination
Brachioradialis flexes forearm/no role in supination
Tensor fasciae latae abducts thigh/”at ease” stance
Gluteus medius abducts thigh/”at ease” stance
Gluteus maximus extends hip/thigh (used in climbing stairs)
Rectus femoris (Quadriceps) extends knee/flexes thigh at hip
Vastus lateralis extends and stabilizes knee
Vastus medialis extends knee/stabilizes patella
Vastus intermedialis extends knee
Biceps femoris (Hamstrings) flexes knee/extends thigh
Semimembranosus flexes knee/extends thigh
Semitendinosus flexes knee/extends thigh
Sartorius flexes knee/flexes, abducts, rotates thigh
Adductor Group (Adductor magnus, Adductor longus, Adductor brevis) adducts, flexes, rotates thigh
Gracilis adducts thigh/flexes and rotates leg
Tibialis anterior dorsiflexes foot
Gastrocnemius plantar flexes foot
Soleus plantar flexes foot
Fibularis longus plantar flex and evert foot
