QuestionAnswer
First Step Adress Client by name and introduce self to Client by name. Explain procedure clearly and thoroughly.
Second Step Provide Privacy
Third Step Have Client sit or lay comfortably with arm at heart level, palm up, upper arm exposed
Fourth Step Select appropriate cuff size
Fifth Step Find Brachial Artery at inside bend of elbow
Sixth Step Place BP cuff on upper arm with senor/arrow over brachial artery
Seventh Step Turn on machine and select appropriate setting
Eighth Step Push Start. If cuff inflates to more than 200 mm Hg, stop machine and use other arm.
Nineth Step Wait for cuff to deflate and reading to appear on screen before removing cuff
Tenth Step Signaling device within reach. Bed in lowest position
Eleventh Step Before recording wash hands
*TWELFTH STEP Record systolic and diastolic pressures exactly as displayed. Skill Completed
