Dress Client

With Affected or Weak Arm

QuestionAnswer
First Step Adress Client by name and introduce self to Client by name. Explain procedure clearly and thoroughly.
Second Step Provide Privacy.
Third Step Ask Client which shirt they prefer
Fourth Step Avoid overexposure of Client by covering chest with a sheet or blanket while dressing
Fifth Step Remove gown from unaffected arm first, then remove gown from affected arm
Sixth Step Before dressing Client dispose of gown in dirty linen container
*SEVENTH STEP Assist to put affected arm in sleeve first then place garment on unaffected arm. Move limbs gently. Finish with clothes in place.
Eighth Step Signaling device within reach. Bed is in lowest positon.
Nineth Step Wash hands. Skill Complete.
