Donning and Doffing

QuestionAnswer
First Step Pick up gown and let it gently unfold
Second Step Facing back opening of gown places arms through each sleeve
Third Step Fasten gown at neck
Fourth Step Fasten gown at waist, covering back as much as possible
Fifth Step Put on gloves over cuffs of gown
*SIXTH STEP Before removing gown, grab palm of glove to remove then using the ungloved hand, slip fingers under cuff and remove second glove turning it inside out
Seventh Step Dispose of gloves without contaminating self
Eighth Step After disposing gloves, unfasten gown from waist to neck.
Nineth Step Remove gown without touching outside/contaminated side
Tenth Step While removing gown hold away from body, without touching the floor and turn it inside out
Eleventh Step Dispose gown in designated container
Twelfth Step Wash hands. Skill complete.
Notes Donning: 1. Gown then gloves 2. Neck then waist Doffing: 1. Gloves then gown 2. Waist then neck
