Applies One Stocking

QuestionAnswer
First Step Introduces self, addresses client by name, and explains procedure clearly and thoroughly
Second Step Privacy is provided with curtain, screen, or door
Third Step Client is in Supine Position (lying down in bed) while stocking is being applied
Fourth Step Turns stocking inside out, not past heel
Fifth Step Places foot of stocking over toes, foot, and heel
Sixth Step Pulls top of stocking over foot heel and leg
*Seventh Step Finishes procedure with no twist or wrinkles and heel of stocking (if present) is over heel and toe opening (if present) is either over or under toe area.
Eighth Step signaling device is within reach and bed is in low position
Nineth Step Wash hands. Skill Complete.
