Energy Transfer
| Term | Definition |

| ecosystem | groups of living things and the nonliving environment in which they live (living & nonliving together) |
| food chain | shows ONE path of energy as it flows from one organism to the next in an ecosystem |
| food web | shows MANY ways that energy can flow from one organism to the next in an ecosystem. |
| habitat | where every population lives in an ecosystem; provides everything an organism needs to survive |
| energy pyramid | shows the energy flow in a community from producers on the bottom, to primary consumers, secondary consumers, and tertiary consumers. |
| brackish | a mixture of freshwater and saltwater predator |
| prey | animals that get hunted and eaten by other animals (ex. rabbit, mouse, fish) |
| aquatic | having to do with water; plants or animals that live in water |
| terrestrial | having to do with land and not the water or air |
| marine | ecosystems that are made up of salt water |
| predator | animals that hunt and kill other animals(ex. lion, cheetah, bear) |
