Name 3 kinds of fibers that may be present in a connective tissue ECM. Collagenous, Reticular, Elastic
Name 4 types of tissue. Fibrous, Bone, Cartilage, Blood
Name the 2 types of involuntary muscle. Where are they? Smooth muscle tissue - hollow organs, stomach Cardiac muscle tissue - heart muscle
What is the DEJ? Basement Membrane between epidermis and dermis, called Dermoepidermal Junction
Name 7 functions of skin. Protection, sensation, flexibility, excretion, hormone production, immunity and body temp.
What are the 2 bone forming cells? Osteoblasts and Osteoclasts
What is the difference between osteoblasts and osteoclasts? Osteoblasts form bone by secreting collagen - builders Osteoclasts break down bone, adding calcium to the blood (bone reasbsorption)
Name the 2 skeletal types. Axial - skull, vertebrae and ribs Appendicular - appendages
Name 2 types of bone. Spongy/Trabecular Bone Compact Bone
Where is red bone marrow made and stored in an adult? Flat bones - ribs, vertebrae, ends of humerus, pelvis and femur Stored in Epiphysis of bones
What does the dorsal cavity consist of? Cranial cavity - space within the skull Spinal canal - tunnel that houses and protects spinal cord
