The parts and their functions

Arm Attaches the eyepiece & body tube to the base
Base Supports the microscope
Body Tube A tube that supports the eyepiece
Coarse Focus Adjustment Knob that makes large adjustments to the focus
Fine Focus Adjustment Knob that makes small adjustments to the focus
Diaphragm Adjustable opening under the stage, allowing different amounts of light on to the stage
Eyepiece Where you place your eye
High Power Objective Large lens with high magnifying power
Low Power Objective Small lens with low magnifying power
Inclination Joint Adjustable joint that lets the arm tilt at various angles
Revolving Nosepiece Rotating device that holds the objectives (lenses)
Stage Platform on which a slide is placed
Stage clips Metal clips that holds a slide securely on to the stage
Mirror Directs light up thru the diaphragm
