Sound files IGCSE Computer Science

TermDefinition
Sample A Measurement of amplitude at a certain point on the analogue sound wave. (Later converted to a binary value)
Sample rate How often samples are measured each second. (Measured in Hz)
Sample resolution The number of bits used to store each sample.
Amplitude Volume of a sound wave.
Sampling The process used to digitise analogue sound waves.
What is a Quantization error? Data that is lost when the analogue sound wave has been converted to binary.
What happens if the Sample rate is High? Sound quality will be better than if sample rate was low.
What happens if the Resolution is High? Size of digital sound file will be large
TRUE or FALSE the quality of the sound file is effected by Resolution and Sample rate True
