What is matter? The stuff that makes up everything
What are examples of properties of matter? Smell, taste, color, texture, temperature
What joins together to make molecules? Atoms
What is a group of molecules called? A substance
A filter is used to turn salt water into fresh water. Which property of matter does this filter most likely use to remove the salt: size, shape, mass, or attraction? A filter would remove the salt based on its size. A salt molecule is bigger than a water molecule, so the salt would get stuck and the water would go through.
What does soluble mean? soluble means that a substance can dissolve in water or another liquid
What does an emulsifier do? An ingredient that helps unmixable liquids stay mixed together
What is a property? something you can observe or measure about something that helps you identify or describe it
What is a mixture? A combination of different substances. A mixture contains more than one type of molecule.
What does dissolve mean? to mix a solid evenly into a liquid by breaking it apart into pieces that are too small to see
