TermDefinition
inciting incident sets the story in motion
exposition first part of plot that introduces the characters, setting, and basic situation
rising action the main part of the story where complications arise
climax the most exciting or intense part of the story for the protagonist
falling action the part of plot that starts resolving problems
resolution the end of the story where conflicts are resolved.
protagonist the main character
antagonist the character or force in conflict with the protagonist
setting time AND place of a story
plot the chain of events that make up a story
complications problems that arise as characters struggle to reach their goals
