acne infected pimples caused by over secretion of sebum, occurs most often on the face, back and shoulders, treatment includes frequent cleansing, antibiotics and exposure to ultraviolet light.
athlete foot a fungus infection on the feet that causes cracking of the skin and a burning sensation.
basal cell carcinoma most common kind of skin cancer, begins as a shiny bump and grows slowly
furuncle an abscessed hair follicle caused by a bacterial infection.
Callous thickened area of epidermis from pressure or friction
Cyst fluid-filled sac in the skin.
Dermatitis an inflammation of the dermis characterized by redness and swelling, usually treated with hydrocortisone cream.
Eczema a red, itching inflammation of the skin, caused by several different factors including heredity, allergies, infections and nerves.
Fissure crack in the skin
Hives white or red elevated areas in the skin, caused by an accumulation of fluid under the skin, may be triggered by allergies.
impetigo small, pus-filled blisters appear on the skin, the blisters burst and form a crust, caused by bacteria, it is highly contagious.
Keratosis dry, red, rough patches on the skin caused by exposure to sunlight.
Malignant melanoma least common but most dangerous skin cancer, may begin as a mole.
Psoriasis a congenital, chronic disease of the skin, characterized by white, flaky patches on the skin, condition may flare up due to poor nutrition, stress or hormones.
Ringworm raised, round sores on the skin, sores are red on the outside and white on the inside, caused by a fungus, it is highly contagious.
Shingles a painful skin condition caused by the herpes zoster virus, it is a form of chicken pox and is usually found in people over 50, characterized by burning blisters which break and become crusted and infected.
Squamous cell carcinoma skin cancer which begins as a red patch with well-defined outlines, usually develops on the face, lips or ears.
Tinea versicolor a fungus infection of the skin, skin does not tan when exposed to sunlight.
Ulceration an open, non-healing sore on the skin.
Vitiligo loss of skin pigmentation
Wart a viral infection of the epidermis, results in a raised area that persists for 2-18 months.
