Dermis Tissue is vascular to nourish the skin and regulate the body
Papillary layer Consists of areolar connective tissue contains fine elastic fibers.
dermal papillae Surface area increased by small fingerlike, projections

Bulb At the base of the hair follicle is an enlarged layered structure
hair follicle surrounding the root composed of live cells receives nutrition from a cluster of blood vessels called the bulb.
arrector pili attaches to each hair follicle at an angle. It contracts in response to cold temperature and stress. It presses against the sebaceous gland forcing oil onto the skin surface.

ammonia urea, uric acid lactic acid Toxic Substances secreted within sweat glands,
eccrine Function throughout life
eccrine Produce sweat which consists of water, salts and a small amount of urea
eccrine Sweat helps maintain body temperature and helps eliminate body wastes.
apocrine Begin functioning during puberty
apocrine Produce sweat that contains proteins which promotes the growth of microorganisms on the skin surface.
