TermDefinition
Appearance The way someone or something looks.
Bends Light travels through a medium and is __________>
Bounces Light is reflected and _________ off of a surface.
Concave Lens This lens is thinner in the center and thicker at the edges. It makes things look smaller or further away.
Convex Lens This lens is thicker in the center and thinner at the edges. It makes things look larger or magnified.
Energy The ability to do work or cause change.
Lens A curved piece of transparent material, like glass or plastic, that bends light to make things look either bigger or smaller.
Medium A material with which light can either be reflected, refracted, or absorbed.
Opaque Allows NO light to pass through.
Prism A piece of clear material (like glass or plastic), usually in a triangular shape, that is used to bend and separate light.
Strikes When light hits a material.
Translucent Allows some light to pass through.
Transmitted Light passes through a material.
Transparent Allows ALL, or almost all light to pass through.
Absorbed Light energy taken in by an object.
Light A form of energy which our eyes can detect.
Reflection A light wave behavior in which the waves strike an object and bounce back off.
Refraction A change in direction of a light wave as it moves from one medium to another.
