Adaptation an inherited trait evolved through natural selection that makes a population well suited to living and reproducing in its environment
Evolution the inherited changes that occur in a population over time
Genetic Variation differences in the inherited traits of different individuals (different types of beak, different colors of fur)
Natural Selection natural selection the process through which individuals in a population with certain inherited traits are more likely to survive and reproduce than individuals with less favorable traits in a specific environment
Population population a group of individuals of the same species that live and reproduce in the same place
Trait a characteristic of an organism (color, patterns, size, shape)
Survival continuing to live or exist, typically in spite of an accident or difficult circumstances.
Independent Variable something that is changed on purpose by the scientist
Dependent Variable might be affected by the change in the independent variable; What is observed or measured
Control Variable a variable that is kept the same; also called a constant
