point-source pollution pollution from a single sources that can be identified
nonpoint-source pollution pollution from several widespread sources that cannot be traced back to a single location
nitrate nitrogen-based compound often used in fertilizers
turbidity a measure of the cloudiness of water from sediments, microscopic organisms, or pollutants
bioindicator an organism that is sensitive to environmental conditions and is one of the first to respond to change
remote sensing the process of collecting information about an area without coming into contact with it
