Ecosystems week 1

TermDefinition
ecosystem All the living and nonliving things in an area that work together.
organism Any living thing (plant, animal, fungus, or microbe).
population A group of the same kind of organism living in the same place.
community All the different populations of living things in the same area.
habitat The place where an organism lives and finds what it needs to survive.
biotic The living parts of an ecosystem (plants, animals, people, bacteria).
abiotic The nonliving parts of an ecosystem (sunlight, water, air, soil, rocks).
niche The “job” or role of an organism in its habitat (what it does and how it helps).
