Scientific Method

A set of term/definition flash cards to help me MASTER the scientific method!

TermDefinition
Scientific Method A series of steps a Scientist uses to solve a problem.
Problem or Purpose Always stated as a question.
Research Or gather information.
Hypothesis Educated guess or prediction.
Experiment Tests your hypothesis.
Control Standard for comparison
Independent Variable The factor being tested.
Dependent Variable What is being measured.
Constant Variables The factors that remain the same for all setups.
Observations Obtained by using your 5 senses.
Data Obtained from your observations.
Analyze Data Needed to get a conclusion.
Conclusion Answers the problem.
Repeat To confirm the experiment by doing it multiple times.
Quantitative Analysis Relating to numerical data ex: the desk was 10cm long, there are 10 students in this room.
Qualitative Analysis Relating to descriptions and the five senses, observations ex: the chair is brown, the sky is blue, the desk is hard.
