Abiotic Any factor in the environment that does not meet the characteristics of life
Biotic Any factor in the environment that meets with the characteristics of life
Atom The Smallest unit of matter (an element is a kind of atom)
Molecule A group of atoms bonded together
Organelle Tiny "organ" inside of cells that carry cut life sustaining processes
Cells The smallest and most basic unit of life
Organism Any living thing includes animals, plants, fungi, bacteria, and protists that meet the characteristics of life
homeostasis The ability to maintain stable internal conditions
Stimuli A change in the environment
Adapt Change over time in response to environment (1,000,000's of years!)
unicellular Made of 1 cell
multicellular Made of more than 1 cell
Energy The ability to do work
Matter Anything that has mass or takes up space
Heterotroph Organisms that have to eat food to gain energy
Autotrophs Organisms that created their own food for energy
