| contract | the tightening, shortening, or lengthening of muscles when in use |
| tendons | tough bands of tissue that connects muscle to bone |
| circulatory system | the body system that transports (moves) oxygen, nutrients, and waste through the body in the blood; major organs are heart, arteries, veins, blood |
| heart | an organ made of muscle tissue that pumps blood through blood vessels; cardiac muscle; circulatory system |
| vessels | tubes like veins, arteries, and capillaries, in which a body fluid (blood) is contained and circulated throughout the body |
