Energy and Motion
| Term | Definition |

| Motion | A change in an object's position |
| Speed | How fast an object's position changes over time |
| velocity | the speed and direction of an object |
| acceleration | a change in velocity over time |
| force | Any push or pull |
| balanced forces | when forces act on an object in motion to stay in motion or of an object at rest to stay at rest |
| inertia | The tendency of an object in motion to stay in motion or of an object at rest to stay at rest |
| gravity | the force that is pulling you and earth together |
| friction | a force between surfaces that slows objects or stops them from moving |
| energy | the ability to do work, it can make an object move or change. Energy can be classified into two main forms; stored energy or energy in motion |
| Collision | Occurs when 2 or more objects hit each other with a force |
| energy transfer | the movement of energy from one object to another |
| conservation energy | energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can only change form |
