What do we call the basic units of life? Cells
What is the function of the nucleus? Controls cell activities
What is the function of the Cytoplasm? Site of chemical reactions
What is the function of the Cell Membrane? Controls what can enter and exit the cell
What is the function of the Cell Wall? Provides structure and support to cell
What is the function of the Chloroplasts? Site of photosynthesis
What is the function of the Vacuole? Contains cell sap
What is a specialised cell? A specialised cell is a cell which has specific features (parts) which allow it to carry out specific functions (jobs).
What is the job of a red blood cell and how is it specialised? carry oxygen around the body so they have no nucleus to make more space to carry more oxygen. They are small and flexible so they can fit through the blood vessels.
What is the job of a sperm cell and how is it specialised? have a tail so that they can swim to the egg to fertilise an egg.
What do we apply to cells to make them easier to see under a microscope? Stain
What equipment can we use in a lab to view cells? A Microscope
What is the equation for calculating the magnification of a microscope? Magnification = eyepiece lens x objective lens
