WI-04 Dams and Reservoirs

excavation the process of removing dirt and rocks from a particular area to make space for construction
diversion tunnel a tunnel created to change the path of a river temporarily, usually done during the construction of a dam
foundation the solid base, usually made of concrete or stone, upon which a building or structure (like a dam) is built
spillway a structure built in dams to control the release of water, preventing the dam from overflowing during heavy rains or melting snow
concrete a hard building material made from a mixture of water, sand, gravel, and cement
reservoir large natural or artificial lake used to store water
dam a barrier constructed across a river or stream to hold back water and create a reservoir
