Nature of science

TermDefinition
empirical evidence information gathered through direct observation.
theory a well-tested evidence-based explanation for a questionable situation
law a system of rules and principles that is set up to guide proper behavior of people. If people break these laws you get in trouble.
experiment a scientific or non-scientific procedure performed to test a hypothesis, principle or idea .
hypothesis A thought or guess for your answer.
observation An observation is the act of gathering information either through your senses or with instruments
model A 3D representation of a person place or thing
technology the way we apply scientific knowledge for practical purposes
dependent variable the factor being measured or observed in an experiment. It is expected to change depending on changes in the independent variable
independent variable a variable that stands alone and isn't changed by the other variables you are trying to measure
data facts and statics collected together for reference or analysis.
engineering designing and building useful structures, machines, and systems
prototype someone or something that serves as a model or inspiration for those that come later
trade-off a giving up of one thing in return for another
life cycle analysis this is the systematic way of analyzing the envoirnmental impact through out the entire life-cycle of a product, material or process
