Metabolism the combination of chemical reactions through which an organism builds up or breaks down materials

Envelope a surrounding or enclosing structure; can refer to the cell envelope
Nanometer a unit of length equal to one billionth of a meter
Evolution change over time; the process by which modern organisms have descended from ancient organisms
Sexual Reproduction type of reproduction in which cells from two parents unite to form the first cell of a new organism
Growth and Development an increase in size; the series of changes an organism undergoes as it matures, including both physical and functional changes
Vaccine preparation of weakened or killed pathogens used to produce immunity to a disease
Virion a complete, infectious virus particle found outside of a host cell
Host Cell a living cell invaded by or capable of being invaded by an infectious agent (as a bacterium or a virus)
