Scientific Method

| Scientific Method | A method of research in which a problem is identified, relevant data are gathered, a hypothesis is formulated from these data, and the hypothesis is tested. |
| Observation | Using your five senses to take note of and observe your surroundings and gather information. |
| Inference | A conclusion about our observations; making an assumption or prediction about something that you observe. |
| Hypothesis | A testable explanation for the details you observe |
| Experiment | a test, trial, or procedure; an act or operation for the purpose of discovering something unknown |
| Variable | Something that changes |
| Conclusion | a result or outcome |
| Prediction | to declare or tell in advance |
| Qualitative Observation | When you use your senses to make the observation; what you see, hear, smell, taste, or feel. |
| Quantitative Observation | The observation is focused on numbers and values; results are measurable |
