Acceptance is the final stage of the grieving or dying process, where the person comes to terms with their impending death or loss and finds a sense of peace.
Advance Directive is a legal document that states a person’s wishes about medical care if they become unable to communicate their decisions.
Anger is an emotional response to feeling frustrated, hurt, or threatened, often experienced during grief or illness.
Apnea is a temporary stop or pause in breathing, often occurring during the dying process or certain medical conditions.
Bargaining is a stage of grief where a person tries to negotiate or make deals, often with a higher power, hoping to delay or change the outcome of illness or loss.
Cheyne-Stokes Breathing is an abnormal breathing pattern characterized by periods of rapid breathing followed by periods of no breathing (apnea), often seen in people nearing the end of life.
Death is the permanent stopping of all vital body functions, marking the end of life.
Denial is a stage of grief where a person refuses to accept the reality of a loss or terminal illness as a way to protect themselves from emotional pain.
Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) is a medical order indicating that a person does not want CPR or other life-saving measures if their heart or breathing stops.
Depression is a stage of grief characterized by deep sadness, withdrawal, and hopelessness as a person faces loss or the reality of death.
Dying is the process of approaching death, during which the body gradually shuts down and vital functions cease.
End-of-life care is compassionate care focused on comfort, dignity, and support for a person who is approaching death
Extraordinary Measures are aggressive medical treatments used to prolong life when death is imminent, often involving invasive procedures with little chance of recovery.
