Gr. 6 Q1 Sequence 2
What are the subsurface events that result in changes to the Earth's System?
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Igneous Rock | Rock made from the cooling of magma |
| Sedimentary Rock | Rock made from the compacting and cementation of small rock particles (sediment) |
| Metamorphic Rock | Rock made from heat and pressure deep within Earth |
| Scientific Models | A representation or a description designed to make a part/feature of the world easier to understand. |
| SSub surface events | Events in the rock cycle that are driven by energy from the Core. |
| Surface events | Events in the rock cycle that are driven by energy from the Sun. |
| Plate Tectonics | Large pieces of Earth's crust that move and interact creating landforms on Earth's surface |
| Convergent Boundary | A boundary where two plate tectonics move towards each other reslting in mountains, earthquakes, volcanoes, subduction zones, and ocean trenches. |
| Divergent boundary | A boundary where two plate tectonics move away from each other resulting in sea floor spreading, mid ocean ridges, Earthquakes, and volcanos. |
| Subduction zone: | When two plate tectonics converge and one goes under the other. |
