| Adaptive Devices (assistive devices) | are tools that help people perform daily tasks more easily and safely when they have disabilities or limitations. |
| Amputation | is the surgical removal of a body part, usually a limb, due to injury, disease, or medical reasons. |
| Bladder/Bowel Training | a therapy that helps a person regain control over urination or bowel movements through scheduled bathroom use and exercises. |
| Contraindication | a specific situation or condition where a particular treatment or procedure should not be used because it may be harmful. |
| Defecation | is the process of eliminating solid waste (feces) from the digestive tract through the anus |
| Empathy | the ability to understand and share the feelings of another person. |
| Enema | a liquid solution introduced into the rectum to stimulate bowel movement or relieve constipation. |
| Functional Loss | is the decrease or inability to perform normal daily activities due to illness, injury, or disability. |
| Incontinence | is the inability to control the release of urine or feces. |
| Orthotic Device | a custom-made or specially designed support worn to correct or support a body part, like a brace or splint. |
| Prosthetic Device | an artificial replacement for a missing body part, such as an arm, leg, or eye. |
| Range of Motion | is the full movement potential of a joint, usually measured in degrees of a circle. |
| Rehabilitation | is the process of helping a person recover skills and abilities lost due to illness or injury. |
| Supportive Device | is equipment used to help a person maintain balance, improve mobility, or reduce strain, such as canes, walkers, or wheelchairs. |
| Urination (Voiding) | is the process of releasing urine from the bladder through the urethra. |
