ETS1-3: Evaluate

Evaluate a Solution

TermDefinition
table A way to organize data in rows and columns so it’s easy to read and compare.
graph A picture that shows data or information using lines, bars, or points to make it easier to understand.
trend A pattern or change that happens over time, like temperatures getting warmer each year.
validity How well an experiment or test measures what it’s supposed to measure.
range Shows how spread out the numbers are. You subtract the smallest number from the largest.
mean The average of a set of numbers. You add all the numbers together and divide by how many numbers there are.
hypothesis An educated guess or prediction that you can test in an experiment.
independent variable Part of an experiment that is changed on purpose to see what happens.
dependent variable What you measure in an experiment. It changes because of what you did to the independent variable.
control group Part of an experiment that stays the same so you can compare it to the part you changed.
claim A statement or idea that someone says is true, often based on evidence.
quantitative evidence Information that uses numbers or measurements to support a claim.
reasoning The thinking and logic used to explain how evidence supports a claim.
anthropogenic changes Changes in the environment that are caused by humans, like pollution or deforestation.
solutions Ideas or actions that help fix environmental problems.
model A drawing, object, or idea that helps explain something that is hard to see or understand, like how a system works.
constraints Limits or challenges that make it harder to solve a problem, like not having enough money or space.
cost How much money, time, or resources something takes to do or build.
safety How well something protects people and the environment from harm.
reliability How well something works over time without failing.
aesthetics How nice or attractive something looks, which can matter when designing parks or green spaces.
