Assault intentionally threatening or attempting to cause physical harm to someone.
Basic Human Rights the fundamental freedoms and protections every person is entitled to, such as safety, privacy, and respect.
Battery the intentional and unlawful physical contact or harm done to another person without their consent.
Civil Law deals with disputes between individuals or organizations, usually involving compensation rather than criminal punishment.
Code of Ethics a set of professional guidelines that outline the moral principles and standards for behavior in a specific field.
Confidentiality means keeping a person’s private information secure and only sharing it with authorized individuals.
Consent giving permission or approval before any action or care is performed.
Criminal Law involves laws related to crimes and punishments enforced by the government to protect public safety.
Defamation making false statements about someone that harm their reputation.
Disclosure the act of sharing or revealing private or confidential information to authorized individuals.
Diversion of drugs the illegal use or theft of medications intended for patients by healthcare workers or others.
Exploitation taking unfair or unethical advantage of someone for personal gain or benefit.
False imprisonment unlawfully restraining or confining a person against their will without legal justification
Fraud intentionally deceiving someone to gain money, property, or other benefits unlawfully.
Invasion of privacy unlawfully revealing or intruding on someone's personal, confidential, or private information or space.
Laws rules established by governments to maintain order, protect rights, and ensure safety within society.
Malpractice professional negligence or failure to provide proper care that results in harm to a patient.
Misappropriation of property the unauthorized use or theft of someone else's belongings or money.
Neglect the failure to provide necessary care, resulting in harm or risk of harm to a person.
Negligence failing to provide the expected standard of care, causing harm or injury to another person.
Nondisclosure the failure to share or the act of withholding important or required information, especially confidential or legal information.
Privacy the right of a resident to keep their personal, medical, and living information protected and free from unauthorized access or exposure.
Resident's Rights the legal, moral, and ethical entitlements guaranteed to individuals living in long-term care facilities, ensuring dignity, respect, choice, privacy, and quality care.
Sexual abuse any non-consensual sexual contact, behavior, or activity inflicted on a resident, including unwanted touching, sexual harassment, or coercion.
Vulnerable adults individuals 18 years or older who may be unable to protect themselves from harm or exploitation due to physical or mental impairments or advanced age.
