Simple squamous epithelium a single layer of flattened, scale-like cells that facilitates the rapid diffusion or filtration of substances
Stratified squamous epithelium a type of tissue composed of multiple layers of flattened cells
Endocrine glands specialized organs that produce and release hormones directly into the bloodstream
Holocrine glands a type of exocrine gland where the entire secretory cell disintegrates to release its product
Connective tissue several body tissues that connect, support, and help bind other tissues
Adipose tissue a type of connective tissue that primarily functions as a storage site for excess energy in the form of triglycerides
osteocytes, the most abundant type of cell found in mature bone tissue
osteoclast a large multinucleate bone cell which absorbs bone tissue during growth and healing.
Skeletal muscle tissue a type of muscle tissue that is primarily responsible for voluntary movements of the body
nervous tissue a specialized tissue that forms the nervous system, responsible for coordinating and controlling body functions
