The FIRST step of the scientific method ASK A QUESTION or state the problem

What should you do if your hypothesis doesn't come out the way you hoped? RETHINK/REVISE your hypothesis
INDEPENDENT VARIABLE- another name? MANIPULATED VARIABLE
DEPENDENT VARIABLE - another name? RESPONDING VARIABLE
Which AXIS is the independent variable plotted on? X-axis
Which AXIS is the dependent variable plotted on? Y-axis
The group that does NOT receive any 'experimentation'. It's the group that gets the 'usual' treatment. CONTROL GROUP
The group that gets special 'experimentation'. The EXPERIMENTAL GROUP
The VARIABLE that you are applying or changing that's different than usual. The INDEPENDENT VARIABLE

Is the 'retake' test the same one? NO - it's a different test entirely. It may be different format, different questions.
Where can you find the homework when you're in class? On the whiteboard under HW (homework)
What happens if I do not bring my INB to class? You will need to take notes on looseleaf paper, then recopy them into the notebook.
What if I'm absent? Where can I find out my assignments or powerpoints I missed? On Mrs. Merson's website calendar, or downloads
Name four safety features of our science lab/backroom Answers may include: Fire extinguisher, smoke alarm, emergency drench hose, emergency shower, intercom, eye wash station
If heating a test tube, how can you protect yourself from fire? Tie back long hair, roll up your (long) sleeves
True or false? It's ok to eat or drink in the science room. False!
True or false? Any liquid can be poured down the sink. False! Certain chemicals are very dangerous. Always check with teacher first.
If your lab partner wants to try his "OWN" experiment, what should you do? Tell teacher. Never 'experiment' on your own without permission.
TRUE OR FALSE? It's ok to take dissected frog body parts home in your pockets. NO! All parts are disposed of properly.
