| lava | molten rock that erupts on Earth's surface |
| volcano | a vent in Earth's crust through which molten rock flows |
| hydrosphere | the system containing all the solid and liquid water on Earth |
| atmosphere | the layer of gases surrounding Earth |
| glacier | is a large, perennial accumulation of ice and snow that forms on land and moves downslope under the influence of its own weight and gravity |
| groundwater | water found beneath the Earth's surface in saturated zones, specifically within the pores and fractures of rock and soil |
| surface water | any body of water found on the Earth's surface, excluding groundwater and atmospheric water |
| rock | a naturally occurring, solid aggregate of one or more minerals. |
| system | a group of interconnected parts that function as a whole, exhibiting behaviors or properties that are not present in the individual components |
