Physical Properties | The characteristics of a substance that can be observed or measured without changing the substance. |
Chemical Properties | Characteristics which cause specific behavior of substances during chemical changes |
Strength | Measure of the amount of pressure applied before the substance breaks |
Hardness | The measure of an objects ability to resist being scratched (used to identify minerals) |
Flexibility | The ability to bend under pressure |
Conductors | Materials that allow either heat or electricity to pass through them. |
Conductivity | The ability for a substance to be a conductor. |
Mass | The measure of the amount of matter in an object |
Weight | The measure of the gravitational force acting on an object. The more gravity the more an object weighs. The less the gravity the less the object weighs. |
Balance | A tool used to measure the mass of an object in grams (g) |
Spring Scale | A tool to measure force, such as the weight of an object in Newtons (N) |
