Tides

TermDefinition
Tides daily changes in the level of the ocean water
tidal force the difference in gravitational force between the sun, moon, and Earth
high tide when the water level is higher than average
low tide the water level is lower than average sea level
tidal range the difference between levels of ocean water at high tide and low tide
spring tides highest high and the lowest low tides, that happen twice a year when the Sun, Earth and Moon are in a straight line.
neap tides tides with the smallest daily tidal range, occur when the sun, Earth and moon form a 90 degree angle
First and Third Quarter Moon Sun, Earth and Moon at 90 degrees creating a Neap Tide
New and Full Moon Sun, Earth and Moon in a line creating a Spring Tide
