| Organism | An individual living entity that can react to stimuli, reproduce, grow, and maintain homeostasis |
| Environment | The surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal, or plant lives or operates |
| Resource | A stock or supply of materials or assets that can be drawn on to function effectively |
| System | A set of connected things or parts forming a complex whole |
| Function | The natural purpose or activity of a person or thing |
| Structure | The arrangement of and relations between the parts of something complex |
| Development | The process of growth or advancement |
| Process | A series of actions or steps taken to achieve a particular end |
| Interaction | The action or influence of things on one another |
| Component | A part or element of a larger whole, especially a part of a machine or vehicle |
| Population | All the inhabitants of a particular area or ecosystem |
| Organize | To arrange systematically; to order |
| Stability | The state of being steady and not changing |
| Change | To make or become different |
| Adaptation | The process of change by which an organism or species becomes better suited to its environment |
| Diversity | The state of being diverse; a range of different things |
| Reproduction | The process by which organisms produce offspring |
| Nutrition | The process of providing or obtaining the food necessary for health and growth |
| Regulation | The action or process of controlling or maintaining a system or activity |
| Energy | The strength and vitality required for sustained physical or mental activity |
| Matter | The physical substance in general, as distinct from mind and spirit |
| Cycle | A series of events that are regularly repeated in the same order |
| Equilibrium | A state of balance or stability |
| Growth | The process of increasing in physical size |
| Input | Something that is put into a process or system to achieve a result |
| Output | The amount of something produced by a person, machine, or system |
| Flow | The movement of a substance or resource through a system |
| Balance | An even distribution of weight enabling someone or something to remain upright and steady |
| Consumption | The using up of a resource |
| Preservation | The act of maintaining something in its original or existing state |
