Vocab Responding to Change

deforestation A man made change to an environment that involves the removing of trees to make room for houses and roads.
hibernation When an animal slows down its heart rate and sleeps to conserve energy through a specific season.
migration The act of a large group of animals moving from one place to another to find food.
invasive A species that is not native to an area and competes with native species for food and shelter.
dormancy Plants conserve their energy because there isn't enough water or sunlight.
pollution The introduction of a harmful substance in an environment that causes the plants and animals to get sick or die.
native species A species is a species that is native to an area.
