| Verse | All the lines of a play follow a specific pattern of stressed/unstressed syllables. Has a set rhythm and meter. |
| Prose | Written or spoken language in its everyday form - without rhyme like poetry (no rhythm) |
| Soliloquy | Speech delivered by a character while alone on stage (or believing they are alone) when they reveal their inner thoughts/feelings |
