TermDefinition
Organelle “mini organs” found in cells that perform a specific job or function
Prokaryote cell with NO nucleus, DNA is free floating in the cytoplasm ex: bacteria
Eukaryote cell that has its DNA in its nucleus ex: human cells like a brain cell, animal, plants, fungi and protists
Unicellular single celled organism ex. prokaryotes/bacteria
Multicellular multi or many celled organisms ex. Humans, plants, fungi
Nucleus Control center of the cell that holds the DNA “Brain of the cell”
Cell membrane Organelle that controls what passes in and out of the cell
Mitochondria Responsible for creating the energy in the cell “Powerhouse of the cell”
Cytoplasm Jelly-like substance inside cells that the organelles float in
Cell Wall* Extra outer layer that offers additional protection and shape maintenance
Chloroplasts* Make glucose from light energy in the process of photosynthesis
