Voluntary muscles we can control
Involuntary muscles contract and relax without our control
Smooth muscle muscle found in all organs of the body, involuntary
Cardiac muscle muscle found in the heart, involuntary
Skeletal Muscle muscle attached to bone, voluntary
Joint where two or more bones meet; must have several other types of tissues present to have a healthy joint (ligaments, tendons, cartilage)
Ligament connective tissue that connects bone to bone
Tendon connective tissue that connects muscle to bone
Bone Marrow inside the bone where red and white blood cells are produced
Skeletal System protects your organs, provides shape and structure for your body, produces blood cells, and allows movement
Muscular System allows us to move and make all organs work

Homeostasis -Maintaining a constant internal environment; a stable balance inside the body
Internal Stimulihunger, thirst - Anything coming from inside an organism’s body that causes a reaction or change in the organism;
External Stimuli Anything coming from outside the body of an organism that causes a reaction or change in the organism; environmental factors, such as temperature, light, touch
Response A reaction to a stimulus; internal response: fever, vomiting; external response: running away from danger, searching for food or water
Cells -Basic unit of life; smallest building block of an organism
Tissue -A group of similar cells that perform a common function.
Organ -A structure made up of a collection of two or more tissues that carries out a specialized function.
Organ System -A group of two or more organs that work together to perform body functions.
Organelles- specialized structures in the cell; mini organs in the cell
Cartilage - cushion between joints also found in ears and nose
Independent Variable- The factor that is deliberately changed in order to test the effect of the change on another variable. “The one thing being tested”
Dependent Variable -The factor that is measured to gather results; the result or response measured
