spir Latin- “to breathe”
expire (v) to end; to no longer be valid after a period of time; to die.
inspire (v) to make someone want to do something; to give someone an idea about what to do or create.
spirit (n) the force within a person that is believed to give the body life, energy, and power.
perspire (v) to produce a clear liquid from your skin when you are hot or nervous.
conspire (v) to secretly plan with someone to do something that is harmful or illegal.
aspire (v) to want to have or achieve something, such as a particular career or level of success.
transpiration (n) the passage of watery vapor from a living body, such as of a plant, through a membrane or pores.
respiration (n) the act of breathing
stat, sist Latin- “to stand”
status (n) the relative social, professional, or other standing or someone or something.
persist (v) to continue to do something in spite of opposition, warnings, or pleas; to last on and on; continue to exist.
consistent (adj) unchanging in achievement or effect over a period of time.
resist (v) withstand the action or effect of; to fight against.
insist (v) demand something forcefully, not accepting refusal.
subsistence (n) the action of fact of maintaining or supporting oneself at a minimum level.
stature (n) importance or reputation gained by ability or achievement; a person’s height.
statue (n) a carved or cast figure of a person or animal, especially one that is life-size or larger.
