sol Latin- “alone, lonely”
solitude (n) the state or situation of being alone.
sole (adj) acting independently and without assistance or interference; belonging only to the one person, unit, or group named.
soliloquy (n) an act of speaking one’s thoughts aloud when by oneself or regardless of any hearers, especially by a character in a play.
solitary (adj) done or existing alone.
solo (n) a piece of music written to be performed by one voice or one instrument; an action in which there is only one performer.
solitaire (n) any of various car games played by one person, that object of which is to use up all one’s cards by forming particular arrangements alone or apart from others.
isolate (v) to cause a person or place to be or remain alone or apart from others.
desolate (adj) having no companionship; showing the results of abandonment and neglect; lacking signs of life.
spec Latin- “to look”
spectacle (n) a very impressive show; something that attracts attention because it is very unusual or very shocking.
spectacular (adj) causing wonder and admiration; very impressive.
inspect (v) to look at something carefully in order to learn more about it, to find problems, etc.
retrospect (n) a review of or meditation on past events.
suspect (adj) not able to be trusted : causing feelings of doubt or suspicion. (n) a person thought to be accused of an incident
prospect (n) the possibility that something will happen in the future; an opportunity for something to happen; someone or something that is likely to succeed or to be chosen.
respect (n) a feeling of admiring someone or something that is good, valuable, important, etc.
spectator (n) abperson who watches an event, show, game, activity, etc., often as part of an audience.
speculate (v) to think about something and make guesses about it; to form ideas or theories about something usually when there are many things not known about it.
