sci Latin- “To know”
conscientious (adj) Used to describe a person who is wishing to do what is right, especially to do one’s work or duty well and thoroughly.
conscious (adj) Aware of and responding to one’s surroundings; awake.
unconscionable (adj) Not being in agreement with what is right or just.
subconscious (adj) Concerning the part of the mind of which one is not fully aware but which influences one’s actions and feelings.
omniscient (adj) Knowing everything.
prescient (adj) Having or showing knowledge of events before they take place.
conscience (n) An inner feeling or voice viewed as acting as a guide to the rightness or wrongness of one’s behavior.
nescience (n) Lack of knowledge or awareness.
science (n) Knowledge covering general truths or the operation or general laws especially as obtained and tested through the scientific method.
scope Greek- “To examine or view”
stethoscope (n) A medical instrument for listening to the action of someone’s heart or breathing.
periscope (n) An apparatus consisting of a tube attached to a set of mirrors or prisms, by which an observer (typically in a submerged submarine or behind a high obstacle) can see things that are otherwise out of sight.
microscopic (adj) So small it cannot be seen with the naked eye.
gyroscope (n) Device consisting of a wheel or disk mounted so that it can spin rapidly about an axis that is itself free to alter in direction.
horoscope (n) A forecast of a person’s future, typically including a delineation of character and circumstances, based on the relative positions of the stars and planets at the time of that person’s birth.
microscope (n) An optical instrument used for viewing very small objects, such as mineral samples or animal or plant cells, typically magnified several hundred times.
